The Fire Pit Table is one of the hottest new trends in the patio furniture industry. The rise in popularity can attributed both to its functionality and the trend to extend the living space of the home to the backyard. Not all patio tables are built the same. In fact, they come in three sizes. The most popular height for a fire pit table is a dining height which measures 29 inches tall. This height is what you would find for most interior dining room tables and allows you to pull your chair in completely underneath the table, making it ideal for dining or enjoying hors d'oeuvres. Also popular are bar height tables which measure 42 inches tall and provide an elevated table requiring the purchase of bar stools or bar height chairs. Although slightly less conventional, this type of table makes for great use on a balcony by providing a view over any balcony guard rail, or in any other situation where an elevated table provides a better view of your surroundings. Finally, a new trend of fire pit tables have emerged in what is called chat height, measuring at 23 inches tall. Chat height is ideal for a more relaxed, conversational setting.

3. Heat

No fire pit table is complete unless it provides adequate heat. To ensure you are keeping you and your friends warm, make sure the burner to your table provides at least 40,000 BTUs of heat. This should be more than enough heat to keep you warm on those brisk fall nights. Also, make sure your flame is adjustable. On warmer nights, a small ambient flame is perfect to take the chill off.

One of the more underrated styling of a fire pit table is what you place inside the burner when it is in use. For years the only option available was cement gas logs, which replicated the look of old campfires to make it seem as though you were burning wood in your fire pit. A new trend, fire glass, has emerged and is undoubtedly the most popular and best looking centerpiece for any fire pit table. The glass looks like tiny glistening pieces of broken glass, that shine and reflect the flames bursting from the fire pit in a much more modern and sleek design than gas logs. The glass comes in all colors and is tumbled so that it is not sharp to the touch. Colors can be used to match the table, its base or your cushions.
